Paediatric Nurse (IP)

About the role

A paediatric nurse is needed to provide medical and health care to children from birth to late teens. The nurse discusses symptoms and medical history, gives initial care, administers prescribed medication and monitors progress, while supporting families and working with them on their concerns and options.

Key responsibilities

• Ask questions about a child's health to help with diagnosis and document symptoms and history for the doctor.
• Assess children's needs, provide initial care and prepare equipment for examinations and treatments.
• Administer medications, draw blood and give childhood vaccinations following age-appropriate guidelines.
• Evaluate children for signs and symptoms of abuse and escalate concerns as appropriate.
• Respond to life-saving situations in line with nursing standards and protocol.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patients' needs on an ongoing basis.
• Keep patients and relatives informed regularly with accurate, sensitive information and help families cope with illness or injury.
• Give health education to promote healthy lifestyles and respect each patient's cultural and religious beliefs, privacy, dignity, gender and sexuality.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Required profile

• DHA license from the UAE Medical Health Authority.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing or a two-year nursing degree, with registration as a registered nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand or Australia.
• At least 2 years of experience in a hospital or similar setting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work with multidisciplinary teams, patients and stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency in basic computer applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to manage digital documentation and communication effectively.
