Pediatric Cardiac ICU Nurse

About the role

A leading healthcare organization in Dubai is looking for a Pediatric Cardiac ICU Nurse to provide specialized critical care to infants and children with complex congenital and acquired heart conditions, including those recovering from cardiac surgery. The role suits a nurse with strong clinical expertise in pediatric cardiac critical care who can work well in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to critically ill pediatric cardiac patients in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU).
• Monitor and assess vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygen saturation, hemodynamic status and overall condition, reporting changes immediately.
• Operate and monitor ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps and other critical care devices.
• Administer medications, IV therapies and specialized cardiac treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Assist physicians during emergency procedures, cardiac interventions and post-operative care after pediatric cardiac surgery.
• Manage patients with congenital heart defects, post-cardiac surgery recovery, heart failure and other complex cardiac conditions.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans with cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and the multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, treatment plans and progress.
• Follow infection control protocols, patient safety standards and hospital policies.
• Support and educate patients' families about treatment, recovery and ongoing care.
• Take part in quality improvement, case discussions and professional development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of recent experience in Pediatric ICU, Pediatric Cardiac ICU or Neonatal/Pediatric Critical Care in a hospital.
• Valid nursing license from home country and eligibility for a Dubai nursing license (DHA eligibility, license or willingness to obtain it).
• Experience in tertiary care or internationally accredited hospitals is an advantage.
• Willingness to work in Dubai, UAE.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of pediatric cardiac conditions, post-operative cardiac care and critical care procedures.
• Monitoring of pediatric cardiac patients and operation of advanced critical care equipment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Excellent clinical assessment, communication and teamwork skills.
