Physical Education Teacher – Maternity Cover

About the role

GEMS Education is seeking a qualified Physical Education Teacher to cover a maternity leave. You will deliver engaging, curriculum‑aligned PE lessons for Key Stage 2 pupils, fostering fitness, confidence and a love of sport.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver purposeful PE lessons in line with the British Curriculum and school expectations.
• Develop pupils’ physical skills, coordination, fitness and healthy‑lifestyle understanding.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with additional learning needs.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive environment, conduct risk assessments and follow health‑and‑safety procedures.
• Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing constructive feedback.
• Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, resilience and leadership through sport.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physical Education.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management abilities.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a professional team.
