Post-Doctoral Associate – Urban Mobility Research

About the role

The Center for Interacting Urban Networks at New York University Abu Dhabi is seeking a Post‑Doctoral Associate to advance interdisciplinary research on urban mobility. The role involves independent scientific work, collaboration across centre themes, and contribution to teaching activities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct high‑level independent research on multimodal transportation systems, new vehicle technologies, and related data‑driven topics.
• Publish at least two journal papers and present findings at top conferences within the first year.
• Support the research group by assisting in project planning, proposal writing, and identifying funding calls.
• Lead at least one research proposal during the appointment.
• Assist with the execution of ongoing projects to meet defined milestones.
• Contribute to course preparation, deliver lectures or labs, and evaluate student work.
• Mentor and support graduate and undergraduate students.

Required profile

• PhD in engineering, computer science, urban science, applied mathematics or a related discipline, obtained within the last five years.
• Demonstrated experience in transportation or urban‑science research.
• Excellent English communication skills and strong quantitative abilities.
• Proven scientific creativity and the ability to work collaboratively across interdisciplinary themes.
