Principal Safety Engineer – Offshore Detailed Engineering

About the role

Worley is seeking a Principal Safety Engineer to lead HSE and process safety design for offshore detailed engineering projects. The role ensures compliance with contract, code and legislation while delivering safe, reliable solutions for major offshore platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project deliverables, budgets and timelines; prepare proposals, man‑hour estimates and execution methodology.
• Identify HSE requirements, develop Project HSE Plans, Loss Prevention and Fire & Gas (F&G) philosophy documents.
• Lead HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, PHSER and 3D model reviews; review multidisciplinary design documents for HSE compliance.
• Design fire protection systems, fire‑water demand calculations, hydraulic analyses (PIPENET) and passive fire protection schedules.
• Apply ADNOC offshore engineering practices, international codes (NFPA, API, EI) and corporate HSE manuals.
• Prepare and manage qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, including dispersion, fire/explosion modelling, COMAH, safety case and flare radiation studies.
• Support procurement activities, cost estimation and quality assurance within Worley’s QA system.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BSc Hons) and membership of a relevant engineering institution.
• 13‑15 years (or more) of technical safety, HSE design or loss‑prevention engineering experience, preferably in offshore FEED and detailed engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with major offshore platform projects and familiarity with UAE and international safety legislation.
