Principal System and Subsystem Engineer

About the role

The Principal System and Subsystem Engineer will lead end‑to‑end UAV systems engineering for a senior UAE national position. Reporting to the CTO, you will own the architecture, integration, verification and capability development of advanced unmanned aerial platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own UAV system architectures across airborne platforms, payloads, datalinks and ground control stations.
• Govern requirements, interface control documents (ICDs) and functional allocations; act as final authority on trade studies and architectural decisions.
• Lead integration of hardware, software, mechanical, electrical and RF subsystems, ensuring SWaP, safety and reliability targets.
• Develop and execute verification and validation strategies for lab, ground and flight testing, maintaining full traceability to requirements.
• Mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams and institutionalise systems engineering processes.
• Ensure compliance with GCAA, EASA, FAA, MIL‑STD/STANAG standards and support Emirati talent development.

Required profile

• UAE national with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Systems, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on UAV systems engineering experience, including flight control, autonomy and sensor fusion.
• Proven track record in system architecture, subsystem integration, verification and flight testing on military or commercial UAV programs.
• Strong technical writing ability and experience leading design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PRR).
