Programme Supervisor MFA – Set and Costume Design

About the role

The University of the Arts Sharjah seeks a Programme Supervisor for the MFA in Set and Costume Design. This full‑time, assistant‑professor‑level position will teach postgraduate courses, supervise student designers, and may contribute to university productions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver all Set and Costume Design courses within the MFA programme, ensuring safe practice and industry relevance.
• Supervise MFA students on design projects and thesis committees, providing structured feedback and assessment.
• Collaborate with programme leaders in Production Arts, Acting, Musical Theatre, and Dance, as well as the Production Manager.
• Assist with timetabling, recruitment, and hiring of additional designers for productions.

Required profile

• Terminal degree (MFA or PhD) or equivalent professional experience in set and costume design.
• 8–10 years of professional theatre experience as a set and costume designer.
• Proven ability to lead courses, manage budgets, and work autonomously within a multicultural team.
• Willingness to relocate to the UAE and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Required skills

• Set and Costume Design expertise, including current design software suites.
• Office365 Suite (especially Excel).
• Educational platforms: Blackboard, Moodle, Canvas.
