Projects & Programme Directorate Manager

About the role

The Projects & Programme Directorate Manager will lead a portfolio of strategic initiatives for GEMS Education, including new school openings, extensions, and organisational change projects. Reporting to the VP of the Programme Directorate, the role ensures alignment with the GEMS strategic roadmap and delivers projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define project scope in collaboration with senior management and the VP Programme Directorate.
• Establish governance structures and detailed work plans for each strategic project.
• Allocate resources, develop schedules, and continuously review and adjust timelines.
• Lead and mentor project teams, ensuring proper orientation and adherence to the Programme Directorate methodology.
• Prepare and present progress reports, monitor budgets, cash flow, and financial records.
• Identify, assess, and manage risks, dependencies, and issues, escalating as needed.
• Coordinate with internal functions, external suppliers, and regulators to ensure seamless delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing complex, strategic projects, preferably in the education sector.
• Strong matrix management skills with the ability to lead cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to monitor budgets, cash flow, and deliver accurate reporting.
