Professor in Bioinformatics & Health Data Science

About the role

The College of Medicine and Health Sciences at UAE University seeks an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor to lead teaching and research in Bioinformatics and Health Data Science. The successful candidate will shape curricula, supervise graduate research, and drive innovative projects at the intersection of AI, big data and genomics.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver courses on Python programming, bioinformatics, AI, big data and machine learning for health and public health.
• Lead and collaborate on research projects involving omics, metagenomic and statistical analyses of next‑generation sequencing data.
• Supervise MSc, PhD and medical students in health data science and genomics.
• Publish findings in high‑impact journals and present at international conferences.
• Develop and enhance academic programs and manage the Health Data Science laboratory.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Health Informatics, Data Science, Computer Science or a related field.
• Demonstrated record of research productivity and peer‑reviewed publications.
• Experience supervising postgraduate students and contributing to curriculum design.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python for biological research.
• Shell scripting and UNIX/Linux system administration.
• AI, big data analytics and machine learning applied to genetics and genomics.
• Analysis of large genomic datasets (NGS, metagenomics, expression data).
• Implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of bioinformatics software.
