R&D Assistant

About the role

The R&D Assistant will support the Formulation Specialist in developing cosmetic and fragrance products. This position coordinates with external laboratories, manufacturers, and raw‑material suppliers while maintaining technical documentation and tracking product testing. It is ideal for someone with a scientific background who wants to build a career in cosmetic research and development.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Formulation Specialist during product development activities and review formulation data from external labs.
• Assist with competitor benchmarking and ingredient research.
• Coordinate stability and compatibility studies with external laboratories, prepare samples, and track testing progress.
• Compile test reports, flag unexpected findings, and keep formulation records up to date.
• Maintain technical documentation, specifications, and supplier files (COAs, SDSs, data sheets).
• Communicate with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and testing labs regarding samples and documentation.
• Organise shipment and tracking of development samples.
• Carry out basic in‑house evaluations such as pH measurement, viscosity measurement, and visual appearance checks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related scientific field.
• 1–2 years of experience in cosmetics, personal care, laboratory, quality or product development (internship experience is a plus).
• Basic understanding of cosmetic ingredients, formulation principles and the product development process.
• Good organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to work with technical documents.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
