R&D Senior Chemist – Protective Coatings

About the role

The R&D Senior Chemist will develop and maintain protective coating products, handling formulation, testing, and evaluation of coatings, binders, and raw materials. The role supports the R&D strategy and drives technical competence across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Own and drive assigned products and projects end‑to‑end, including planning, formulation, testing, validation and documentation.
• Execute projects independently, coordinate larger tasks, and provide technical recommendations based on data.
• Support compliance with international performance and certification requirements through robust test planning and execution.
• Initiate new global/regional innovation projects with a focus on sustainability.
• Coach junior chemists and technicians, ensuring knowledge transfer and competence building.

Required profile

• Master’s degree with ≥10 years, or Bachelor’s with ≥12 years, or PhD with ≥5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of protective coating formulation, binder systems and curing chemistries.
• Experience with performance validation (weathering, corrosion, accelerated testing) and international test standards.
• Proven ability to manage tasks and projects independently with strong structure and follow‑up.
• Fluent in verbal and written English.
