Registered Nurse – ICU Trauma Care

About the role

The Registered Nurse – ICU Trauma Care provides specialised nursing for critically ill trauma patients within the intensive care unit of Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Hospital. Working in a high‑acuity environment, the nurse ensures safe, evidence‑based treatment while supporting patients and families throughout their critical care journey.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver evidence‑based nursing care to critically ill trauma patients in the ICU.
• Continuously monitor complex clinical conditions and operate advanced critical‑care equipment.
• Participate in trauma resuscitations, emergency interventions and rapid‑response situations.
• Administer medications, blood products and life‑support therapies accurately.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop individualised trauma care plans.
• Document assessments, interventions and outcomes in the EMR system.
• Provide clear communication and education to patients’ families.
• Adhere to infection‑prevention, patient‑safety and DOH quality standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent.
• Valid DOH Registered Nurse licence (or eligibility).
• 2‑3 years recent ICU experience in a tertiary hospital.
• Experience in a dedicated Trauma ICU, Surgical ICU or Level I/II Trauma Center.

Required skills

• Operation of advanced critical‑care equipment (ventilators, monitors, etc.).
• Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Administration of medications, blood products and life‑support therapies.
