Research Accountant – Finance Department

About the role

The University is seeking a Research Accountant to support the Research Accounting Manager in administering the financial aspects of research and executive education projects. The role works closely with internal units and external sponsors to ensure accurate, timely financial management.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and maintain research grants, extensions and system updates in Oracle PPM.
• Prepare and process invoices to external sponsors, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
• Allocate indirect costs and overhead, and prepare monthly payroll add‑on schedules.
• Create journal vouchers for cost allocations, corrections and adjustments.
• Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Collaborate with colleges, research offices, finance units (general accounting, AP, AR, payroll) to provide financial information.
• Support finance transformation initiatives and continuous process improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
• High accuracy, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems – Oracle Fusion or Ellucian Banner (Oracle PPM module).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office applications.
