School Librarian (Secondary) – Start January 2027

About the role

The GEMS Royal Dubai School is seeking a Librarian to join its new secondary campus from January 2027. The role involves managing the library, supporting teaching and learning, and fostering a love of reading among a diverse student body.

Key responsibilities

• Assist students and staff in locating and borrowing books, maintaining accurate borrowing records and following up on unreturned items.
• Collaborate with Heads of Department to select annual library orders, manage subscriptions, and process new book deliveries.
• Catalogue books using the Dewey Decimal system, maintain the library catalogue and ICT equipment.
• Ensure the library environment is comfortable, well‑lit, organized, and inclusive.
• Participate in staff meetings, committees and supervise volunteers as needed.

Required profile

• Qualification in Librarianship or Library Science.
• At least one year of experience working in an educational library.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with students and staff.

Required skills

• Dewey Decimal classification system.
• Computer cataloguing of library resources.
