Senior Accounts Assistant

About the role

A Senior Accounts Assistant is sought to support the finance and accounting operations of an institution in Dubai. The role covers financial records, reconciliations and UAE VAT compliance, and is based on site.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers and accounting entries.
• Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Process supplier invoices, payments, receipts and expense claims.
• Perform bank, vendor, customer and general ledger reconciliations.
• Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue payments.
• Support budgeting, expense monitoring and financial reporting.
• Document and file invoices, receipts and other financial records properly.
• Assist with VAT calculations, return preparation and compliance with UAE VAT regulations.
• Coordinate with internal departments, vendors, students and other stakeholders on financial matters.
• Support internal and external audits with documents and schedules.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies, accounting procedures and internal controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the UAE; the listing also mentions 2-3 years of experience.
• Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CMA or equivalent are an advantage.
• Experience in educational institutions or service-oriented organisations is an advantage.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of accounting principles, UAE VAT and financial procedures.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software or ERP systems.
