Senior Android Developer

About the role

A robotics and AI company building robots, live spatial intelligence and AI experiences is looking for a Senior Android Developer who cares as much about how an app feels to use as about its reliability in the field. The role is based in Abu Dhabi, in person, within a small international team, and involves owning the full user experience from idea to shipped product.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain Android applications across a range of devices
• Work with product managers, designers and backend developers to define and ship new features
• Keep performance, quality and responsiveness high
• Find and fix bugs and performance issues early
• Optimize for speed and scalability
• Introduce new tools and technologies that genuinely improve development
• Help shape the architecture of new features and services, not just implement them
• Write clean, maintainable, efficient code and take part in code reviews

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Proven Android development experience with real apps live on the Google Play Store
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting instincts
• Comfort working in an Agile environment
• Not suited to roles where a spec is handed over and no building is required; the company is open to in-person work in Abu Dhabi

Required skills

• Strong Kotlin and/or Java
• Deep familiarity with the Android SDK, Android Studio and the platform
• RESTful APIs and third-party library integration
• UI/UX sense and Android design guidelines
• Git and modern version control
• Testing frameworks such as Espresso or JUnit
