Senior Architect / Senior Technical Engineer - Materials & Value Engineering

About the role

Jeet Construction LLC, part of SEE Engineering, is looking for a Senior Architect / Senior Technical Engineer to own every decision about materials on its projects, from specification to client approval. The role ensures each proposed material fits design intent, budget, availability and programme, and acts as the in-house authority on market offerings, costs and sourcing. It also brings workable alternatives to the client when supply chains fail or budgets tighten.

Key responsibilities

• Lead material selection across all projects, balancing design intent, performance, durability, compliance and cost.
• Write and maintain material specifications, finishes schedules and technical data for tender and construction.
• Prepare mood boards and material sample boards for client presentations and design reviews.
• Ensure specified materials meet local codes, fire ratings, sustainability targets and project standards.
• Run value engineering on every project, proposing alternatives that cut cost without lowering quality or design intent.
• Present cost-versus-performance comparisons and track the cost impact of material decisions against the budget.
• Maintain a material cost database and keep an up-to-date view of market rates, flagging price movements early.
• Scout new technologies and products, build and maintain a supplier network, and find alternative sources when supply chains are missing, slow or expensive.
• Assess suppliers on quality, lead time, capacity and reliability, and prepare, review and issue material submittals.
• Secure material approvals on time, resolve comments and rejections quickly, and keep a clear submittal and approval log.
• Work with design, procurement, estimation and site teams so material decisions flow into drawings, BOQs and purchase orders.
• Advise and mentor junior architects and engineers on materials and specifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Interior Architecture or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
• 8 to 12 years of experience, with at least 5 years focused on materials, specifications or technical design.
• Proven value engineering track record on residential, commercial or hospitality projects.
• Strong knowledge of local market rates, suppliers and manufacturers.
• Hands-on experience preparing submittals and securing client and consultant approvals.
• Working knowledge of building codes, fire and safety ratings, and sustainability standards such as LEED or Estidama.
• Professional corporate image and appropriate dress code during client meetings.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and MS Office.
• Clear communication and presentation of options and trade-offs to clients and senior management.
• Organised tracking of submittals, samples and approvals.
