About the role
The Senior Charge Nurse – Administration leads nursing staff on a ward, ensuring optimal bed allocation, skill mix and patient flow. The role coordinates clinical and operational activities during each shift.
Key responsibilities
- Provide leadership to the nursing team, report issues to senior management and collaborate with non‑nursing departments to resolve patient‑care challenges.
- Monitor and adjust staff skill mix and workload according to patient acuity, ensuring quality documentation and compliance with organisational policies.
- Conduct hospital rounds, identify problems, implement solutions and support accreditation and performance‑improvement initiatives.
- Oversee infection‑control practices, incident reporting after hours and adherence to patient safety goals.
Required profile
- Minimum 6 years of clinical experience in a relevant healthcare setting post‑qualification.
- At least 2 years in a Senior Charge Nurse role or 3 years as a Charge Nurse.
- Demonstrated ability to lead interdisciplinary teams and manage patient flow effectively.
