Senior Commissioning Engineer - Instrumentation

About the role

The Senior Commissioning Engineer improves the Commissioning discipline at McDermott by applying best practice and sharing conceptual and practical expertise with colleagues. The role reports to the Commissioning Manager and supports the Principal Commissioning Engineer in preparing home-office deliverables, while working closely with the project team and the client.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in walk-down inspections, punch listing and testing, including troubleshooting mechanical, electrical and instrument issues on site
• Support the commissioning team with manuals development, commissioning and start-up spares, first fills and consumables, and commissioning and start-up procedures
• Carry out equipment system checks and tests, and function testing of mechanical, electrical and instrument systems
• Participate in commissioning, start-up and performance testing, and resolve operational and maintenance issues during these phases
• Supervise craft personnel needed for site pre-commissioning and commissioning, and coordinate with other engineers in the commissioning team
• Report to the Project Commissioning Manager and liaise with discipline lead engineers, project engineers and the construction/fabrication team

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering; degree or diploma preferred
• 8-15 years of experience in oil and gas with a major contractor or consultant, including at least 5 years in a chemical, refinery or oil and gas processing facility
• Preferably 2+ years of commissioning and start-up experience in the chemical, refinery or oil and gas industry
• Good understanding of commissioning, completions and training concepts, and basic knowledge of construction and O&M
• Able to communicate technical solutions to engineers and non-engineers, and to assess project requirements clearly
• Willing and able to travel to construction sites, including international ones
• Proficiency in English; multi-language skills a plus
• Degree holders must provide a MoHESR degree equivalency certificate
