Senior Counsel

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Retail and General Legal Services, the Senior Counsel will provide legal consultation and advisory services in English and Arabic, supporting the bank’s business units and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and Sharia standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review, negotiate and amend IT contracts such as software licence, hardware, professional services, maintenance and reseller agreements.
• Negotiate and amend lease, real‑estate developer, partnership, loyalty programme and services agreements.
• Draft and negotiate confidentiality agreements, memoranda of understanding, letters of intent and purchase orders.
• Research and update contracts to ensure compliance with new laws, regulations, standards and Sharia‑compliant resolutions.
• Create new terms and conditions for banking products and services.
• Lead external counsel, internal stakeholders and vendors on special projects, managing budgets and timelines.
• Assist team members on special tasks and provide legal advice in English and Arabic.
• Advise on corporate finance and investment‑banking matters, including syndication, security documentation and credit support.
• Instruct external law firms, review engagement letters and obtain legal opinions.

Required profile

• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills in both English and Arabic.
• Strong communication abilities with attention to detail.
