Senior Product Quality Engineer

About the role

EDGE is an advanced technology group based in Abu Dhabi, and its Powertech centre of excellence designs, engineers and manufactures combustion engines, turbojets and turbofans for aerospace, defence and autonomous applications. The Senior Product Quality Engineer holds product approval authority for supplier-manufactured parts across Powertech propulsion programs, including turbofan, microjet and piston engines. The role reviews and approves supplier quality submissions, defines inspection and acceptance requirements, coordinates configuration and change management between Design Engineering, Supply Chain and suppliers, and provides technical leadership to junior Product Quality Engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve supplier APQP submissions (process flow diagrams, PFMEA, control plans, MSA) in line with AS9145, and PPAP packages, issuing written approval before serial delivery
• Approve first article inspection reports per AS9102, including ballooned drawings, characteristic accountability and measured results; set full or partial FAI requirements after design, process, material, tooling, location or sub-tier changes
• Hold approval gates closed where evidence is insufficient and explain the technical basis to programme and commercial stakeholders
• Define inspection and acceptance requirements, including sampling strategy, inspection method and acceptance criteria, and issue incoming inspection plans to Assembly
• Assess supplier process capability evidence against Cpk requirements on key characteristics
• Create and administer material review records, review concession and deviation requests, and verify supplier 8D corrective actions
• Coordinate design changes with Design Engineering, Supply Chain and suppliers, keeping changes through released, revision-controlled drawings and formal change notices, and maintain product approval status and configuration traceability
• Take part in supplier gate reviews and industrialization reviews, conduct on-site product audits and source inspections where required
• Mentor Product Quality Engineer I and II staff, standardize approval procedures and checklists, and report approval status, submission quality trends and escape data to management

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Materials or Metrology Engineering
• 6+ years of experience in aerospace quality, supplier quality, product quality or manufacturing engineering
• Demonstrated authority-level experience reviewing and approving APQP, PPAP (AS9145) and first article inspection (AS9102) packages
• Preferred: practical metrology competence (CMM, optical and contact measurement, gauge design, MSA), statistical process control and process capability assessment, experience with nonconformance, material review, concessions and 8D, understanding of machined, sheet metal and cast aerospace components, AS9100 and special process requirements, configuration and change management experience, willingness to travel to supplier sites
