Senior Underwriter – Marine

About the role

Zurich Insurance is seeking a Senior Underwriter – Marine to join its Commercial Insurance Middle East team in Dubai. You will independently underwrite medium to high‑complexity marine cargo business and support both new and renewal opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite and analyse new and renewal marine cargo business within delegated authority levels.
• Develop and maintain relationships with agents, brokers and customers to retain and grow business.
• Negotiate terms and conditions, close deals and cross‑sell other lines of business.
• Provide technical guidance, training and mentorship to junior underwriters.
• Lead product development, create underwriting manuals and resolve complex coverage issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with at least 7 years of underwriting or market‑facing experience.
• Extensive knowledge of marine cargo underwriting, pricing, structuring and risk assessment.
• Strong understanding of underwriting philosophy, techniques and relevant regulations.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
