Service Delivery Network Engineer

About the role

du, the UAE's second licensed telecommunications operator, is hiring a Service Delivery Network engineer in Dubai. The role covers troubleshooting, performance analysis, device configuration reviews, vendor coordination and preventive maintenance of the service delivery platforms and data centre networks, with full-time employment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely support and troubleshooting for all issues, escalate and involve vendors within contracted SLAs and follow up until resolved.
• Analyse performance reports proactively to prevent issues and review device configurations to remove incorrect or unnecessary settings.
• Meet with service owners to understand their problems and answer their queries; handle daily trouble tickets according to operating policies.
• Oversee periodic and ad-hoc reports for capacity planning and future upgrades of service delivery platforms and data centre networks.
• Provide outage reasons (RFO) and follow up recommendations to prevent recurrence of faults.
• Assist planning and acceptance teams on network node integrations, attend ATPs to ensure redundancy and symmetry, and maintain up-to-date documentation and diagrams.
• Work with planning teams on capacity planning, upgrades and design issues, and perform periodic health checks and preventive maintenance, including testing redundancy.
• Ensure network elements are redundant and backed up, implement patches and updates, and review vendor or network development documentation for new elements.
• Coordinate acceptance of network changes, update the knowledge base, monitor vendor performance and manage vendor relationships.
• Develop technical reports, prepare disaster recovery plans, release DR run-books, and review, approve and implement change requests.

Required profile

• Minimum bachelor's degree in computer, electronic, electrical, network engineering or IT (telecom equivalent).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in a Service Delivery Network (data centre) for the telecommunications industry.
• Deep knowledge of routing and switching Layer 3 and Layer 2 protocols, and high-level protocols of the OSI and TCP/IP stacks.
• Experience with legacy platforms such as N7K, N5K, 7600, 6500, 3750 and 2960 routers and switches.
• Knowledge of security infrastructure, BSS/OSS solutions and mobile and fixed services.
• Exceptional customer focus and ability to handle complex problems in a stressful environment.

Required skills

• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP); CCIE preferred, or another DC domain certification.
• Cisco ACI, ASR, Citrix and F5 load balancers, Packet Flow Switches and TAPs.
• Juniper, Cisco, Huawei and Fortinet firewalls.
• Problem solving, teamwork and good communication skills.
