Shipping and Logistics Officer

About the role

This position covers the end-to-end coordination of imports and shipments, including booking, customs clearance and delivery, with a focus on free-zone and cross-border trade in the GCC. The role also involves managing zero demurrage and storage KPIs for all imports.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate shipment bookings, collections, transportation and deliveries
• Prepare and verify commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, air waybills, certificates of origin and delivery orders
• Coordinate with customs authorities, clearing agents and freight forwarders, and prepare and follow up on customs declarations and clearance documents
• Ensure compliance with customs and free-zone requirements
• Liaise with shipping lines, freight forwarders, transport companies and clearing agents
• Follow up on shipment delays, container movements and delivery schedules

Required profile

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field
• Relevant experience in shipping, logistics and import/export operations
• Knowledge of customs procedures and shipping documentation
• Familiarity with freight forwarding, Incoterms and customs clearance
• Strong coordination, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills, and ability to manage multiple shipments under tight deadlines

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• ERP systems such as SAP
• Knowledge of international payment terms such as Letter of Credit
