Specialist General Surgeon

About the role

Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Specialist General Surgeon to join its multidisciplinary surgical team. The role involves delivering high‑quality surgical care across the full patient continuum, from assessment to post‑operative follow‑up.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage a broad range of general surgical conditions.
• Perform elective and emergency general surgical procedures within granted clinical privileges.
• Conduct comprehensive pre‑operative evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Provide peri‑operative and post‑operative care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and manage surgical emergencies.
• Interpret diagnostic investigations relevant to surgical management.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters and procedures.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, physicians, nurses and allied health professionals.
• Promote evidence‑based practice and adherence to international clinical guidelines.

Required profile

• MBBS, MBChB or equivalent medical degree.
• Completed residency training in General Surgery.
• Specialty qualification in General Surgery recognized under UAE Professional Qualification Requirements.
• Minimum 5 years of post‑specialty experience as a General Surgeon.
• Valid DOH license or eligibility for a specialist position.
