Specialist Pediatric Critical Care

About the role

The Specialist Pediatric Critical Care provides expert clinical care for critically ill children within Tawam Hospital. Working under the supervision of a Consultant Physician, the role involves direct patient management, supervision of junior staff, and participation in multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high‑quality care.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat pediatric patients according to best‑practice standards.
• Supervise junior medical staff and share responsibility for patient care.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients regularly, and document clinical information promptly.
• Coordinate with other specialties and support services for comprehensive patient management.
• Participate in on‑call rotation, covering evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, SEHA regulations, and resource utilization guidelines.
• Attend divisional meetings, support performance management processes, and assist with incident reporting.

Required profile

• Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) with appropriate specialist qualifications (Tier 1, Tier 2 or Tier 3 as defined by SEHA).
• Eligibility to practice medicine in the UAE.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including out‑of‑hours on‑call duties.
• Commitment to teamwork, patient safety, and continuous professional development.
