Specialist Stroke Medicine – Government Hospital – South African Board

About the role

A leading government hospital in the UAE is seeking a South African Board‑certified Specialist in Stroke Medicine to deliver evidence‑based acute and chronic stroke care within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage acute ischemic, hemorrhagic stroke and TIA patients following established protocols.
• Evaluate eligibility for intravenous thrombolysis and coordinate mechanical thrombectomy referrals.
• Interpret neuroimaging (CT, CTA, MRI, vascular studies) to guide treatment decisions.
• Develop individualized secondary prevention plans and manage stroke‑related complications.
• Collaborate with neurologists, emergency physicians, intensivists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists and rehabilitation specialists.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, case discussions, on‑call rosters and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• South African Board certification in Stroke Medicine.
• Full registration to practice medicine in the UAE.
• Proven experience in acute stroke management and secondary prevention.
• Strong communication skills for patient, family and team education.
