About the role
A leading government hospital in the UAE is seeking a South African Board‑certified Specialist in Stroke Medicine to deliver evidence‑based acute and chronic stroke care within a multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose and manage acute ischemic, hemorrhagic stroke and TIA patients following established protocols.
- Evaluate eligibility for intravenous thrombolysis and coordinate mechanical thrombectomy referrals.
- Interpret neuroimaging (CT, CTA, MRI, vascular studies) to guide treatment decisions.
- Develop individualized secondary prevention plans and manage stroke‑related complications.
- Collaborate with neurologists, emergency physicians, intensivists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists and rehabilitation specialists.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, case discussions, on‑call rosters and quality‑improvement initiatives.
Required profile
- South African Board certification in Stroke Medicine.
- Full registration to practice medicine in the UAE.
- Proven experience in acute stroke management and secondary prevention.
- Strong communication skills for patient, family and team education.
