Staff Midwife – Labour & Delivery Services

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Staff Midwife to join our Labour & Delivery Services at Ghayathi Hospital. The role involves delivering comprehensive antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care to child‑bearing women and their newborns, ensuring safety and high‑quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide routine and individualized antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care for normal pregnancies.
• Identify pregnancy complications and risk factors, referring patients to physicians as needed.
• Act as the lead care provider for uncomplicated pregnancies and coordinate care from first contact through discharge.
• Supervise and mentor practical nurses, practical midwives, junior staff and student nurses; serve as a preceptor for new hires.
• Promote breastfeeding and support “baby‑friendly” initiatives.
• Administer medications in accordance with hospital policies and maintain accurate documentation.
• Advocate for patients’ rights and dignity, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver patient‑centred care.

Required profile

• Registered midwife licensed to practice in Abu Dhabi and familiar with the Midwifery Scope of Practice.
• Demonstrates professional commitment, critical thinking, conflict‑management and problem‑solving abilities.
• Supports a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice model and acts as a role model for colleagues.
• Committed to continuous learning and evidence‑based practice.
