Staff Nurse - Labor and Delivery

About the role

A leading healthcare organization in Dubai is looking for a skilled and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse. The nurse provides safe, evidence-based care to women throughout labor, childbirth and the immediate postpartum period, in a fast-paced maternity environment where mothers and newborns are supported.

Key responsibilities

• Provide nursing care through labor, delivery and early postpartum recovery
• Monitor maternal vital signs, fetal heart rate and uterine activity, and escalate abnormalities promptly
• Assist obstetricians and the multidisciplinary team during normal and high-risk deliveries, including emergency procedures
• Prepare patients, equipment and delivery rooms for labor, vaginal and cesarean deliveries and other obstetric procedures
• Administer medications and IV therapies as prescribed and monitor response and complications
• Support fetal monitoring, labor assessment and emergency interventions such as maternal and neonatal resuscitation
• Care for the mother after birth and support the initial care and assessment of newborns, coordinating with neonatal or pediatric teams when needed
• Educate and support mothers and families on labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, breastfeeding and newborn care
• Maintain accurate records of assessments, interventions, medications and patient progress

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent
• At least 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery / Obstetric nursing experience in a hospital
• Valid nursing license from the home country and eligibility for a Dubai nursing license (DHA eligibility, license or willingness to obtain)
• Experience with normal and high-risk pregnancies and deliveries; tertiary care or internationally accredited hospital experience is an advantage
• Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends and public holidays, and to work in Dubai, UAE

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of labor management, fetal monitoring, obstetric procedures and maternal-newborn care
• Excellent clinical judgment, communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to stay calm under pressure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is an advantage
