Staff Nurse - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

About the role

A leading semi-government hospital in Dubai is looking for an experienced and compassionate Staff Nurse to join its Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team. The role covers the full range of nursing care for critically ill children, working closely with specialists and supporting families.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, age-appropriate nursing care for critically ill pediatric patients, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing interventions.
• Monitor vital signs, lab results and clinical condition continuously, and detect and respond to changes in patients' condition.
• Work with pediatric intensivists, respiratory therapists, social workers and other professionals to deliver integrated care.
• Support families emotionally and educate them, acting as a liaison between medical staff and families.
• Document assessments, interventions, progress and changes accurately in line with hospital policy and regulatory standards.
• Follow infection control protocols and patient safety guidelines, and report potential safety hazards.
• Stay current with pediatric nursing best practices, take part in continuing education and clinical training, and help develop unit protocols.
• Take part in quality improvement initiatives, case reviews and audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institute, college or university.
• At least 2 years of clinical nursing experience in a pediatric hospital or similar setting.
• Previous experience in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
• Valid, current nursing license from the country of origin, with eligibility for DHA licensure; a DHA license is preferred.
• Willingness to work 48 hours per week and to be based in Dubai, UAE.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
