Staff Nurse - Tower B6, Medical Wing

About the role

SSMC is hiring a Staff Nurse for its Medical Wing in Tower B6, Abu Dhabi. The nurse coordinates nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education and transitions of care, while supporting professional nursing practice across the continuum of care and adhering to the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and the UAE.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients comprehensively (physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive and spiritual needs), document findings and identify risks to health and safety
• Develop individualized plans of care with patients, families and the healthcare team, using evidence-based practice and measurable outcomes
• Implement the plan of care, perform treatments and procedures, administer medications and communicate relevant information across care levels
• Provide health teaching and promotion, including teach-back, and document education in the patient record
• Evaluate progress toward outcomes, revise the plan of care, attend care rounds and give clinical handovers
• Integrate evidence and research into practice and take part in performance improvement projects
• Lead by example, coordinate and supervise delegated tasks, and supervise practical nurses, junior staff and student nurses
• Uphold ethical practice, speak up on safety and quality concerns, respond to emergencies and commit to continuous learning

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in nursing, or a nursing degree of at least two years' duration
• Registration as a registered nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand or Australia
• At least 2 years of clinical experience after qualification; the experience requirement is waived for UAE nursing college/university graduates who have completed their internship
