Technical Buyer - Electronics

About the role

EDGE, an advanced technology group headquartered in the UAE, is hiring a Technical Buyer for its Abu Dhabi entity, Advanced Concepts. Advanced Concepts develops autonomous systems such as unmanned aerial vehicles, loitering munitions, cruise missiles and guided artillery munitions. The buyer leads end-to-end technical procurement of engineering components, manages global supply chains and rapid prototyping requirements under strict timelines and budgets, and leads supplier negotiations and team supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Sourcing and procurement of electrical components (PCB, motors, ESC/power electronics, electro-optics, RF and antennas, energy conversion and batteries), knowing the best suppliers to meet time, cost and quality constraints.
• Drive the supply chain: find suppliers and manage sourcing, ordering, receiving and testing within timelines, considering location, accessibility, export controls and regulations.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders such as functional departments, project management, finance, suppliers and authorities to ensure timely delivery.
• Support procurement strategy: analyse business needs and supply markets, define procurement requirements, and build and run procurement plans and budgets.
• Lead contract formulation and negotiation, oversee supplier performance and invoice verification, and maintain accurate records.
• Identify and implement process improvements to reduce costs and increase value.
• Supervise and guide Procurement Officers, allocating purchase requisitions and supporting their development.

Required profile

• Preferred: 12 years of experience in procurement, sourcing or supply chain management, with proven contract negotiation and supplier management.
• Preferred: engineering degree (electrical-related ideally); minimum a bachelor's degree in business administration, finance and accounts, supply chain management or procurement and logistics.
• Proficiency in English is required; the company does not accept unsolicited resumes from recruitment agencies.

Required skills

• Knowledge of supply chain and logistics processes.
• Familiarity with procurement ERP systems such as SAP.
• Proficiency in sourcing and procurement strategies and techniques.
• Strong communication and horizontal leadership skills.
