Unit Manager - Labour & Delivery Ward

About the role

The Unit Manager will lead the midwifery and nursing team on the Labour & Delivery Ward, ensuring patient‑centric, evidence‑based care and operational efficiency. This senior position focuses on delivering positive patient experiences while maintaining high clinical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strong leadership and management guidance to the midwifery/nursing team.
• Ensure evidence‑based patient care practices are followed according to clinical standards.
• Develop staff and create an engaging environment to enhance patient experiences.
• Manage clinical and non‑clinical resources cost‑effectively to ensure safe patient care.
• Monitor compliance with legislative, regulatory and clinical standards for continuous quality improvement.
• Lead obstetric emergency preparedness, ensuring the team is trained and ready.
• Plan and manage capacity, staffing and patient flow proactively.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Midwifery (essential).
• 3‑5 years senior midwifery experience, preferably in a private hospital (essential).
• Experience managing a high‑volume Labour & Delivery service (desired).
• Master’s degree in Midwifery/Nursing or related field (desired).

Required skills

• Implementation of the Scientific Nursing Process.
• Presentation skills and effective meeting management.
• Knowledge of UAE Labour Law and healthcare regulatory framework.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Cost management, stock control, and workforce planning principles.
• Quality management, governance, and risk management best practices.
