Unit Manager - Labour & Delivery Ward

About the role

The Unit Manager will lead the midwifery and nursing team on the Labour & Delivery Ward, ensuring patient‑centric, evidence‑based care and a positive experience for mothers and families.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strong leadership and management guidance to the midwifery/nursing team.
• Ensure evidence‑based patient care practices are followed in line with clinical standards.
• Develop employees and create an environment that promotes team engagement and positive patient experiences.
• Manage clinical and non‑clinical resources cost‑effectively to enhance safe patient care.
• Monitor compliance with legislative, regulatory and clinical standards for continuous quality improvement.
• Lead obstetric emergency preparedness, ensuring the team is trained and ready for emergencies.
• Plan and manage capacity, staffing and patient flow proactively as unit activity grows.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Midwifery (essential); Master of Science in Midwifery/Nursing or related field (desired).
• At least 3‑5 years senior midwifery experience, preferably in a private hospital (essential); 5‑10 years senior experience managing a high‑volume Labour & Delivery service (desired).
