WordPress Specialist (Arabic)

About the role

GTECH builds and maintains a large portfolio of WordPress websites for brands across the Middle East. It is looking for a hands-on WordPress Specialist who can own a website from design through to front-end and back-end, turning approved designs into pixel-accurate, responsive builds and adding custom functionality. Because much of the work targets the Middle East, the role requires a native Arabic speaker who can read and write Arabic and handle RTL layouts and bilingual (Arabic/English) sites. This is a delivery-focused developer role working closely with designers, project managers and the SEO/marketing team.

Key responsibilities

• Convert approved designs (Figma, Adobe XD, PSD) into responsive, pixel-accurate WordPress themes.
• Build and customize WordPress themes and child themes, front-end (HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, JavaScript) and back-end (PHP, WordPress APIs).
• Develop custom functionality such as custom post types, taxonomies and fields with ACF, and build or extend custom plugins.
• Build and maintain Arabic/RTL and bilingual sites, including RTL layouts, Arabic typography and multilingual setups (e.g. WPML, Polylang).
• Work with page builders (Elementor, Gutenberg) where relevant, and build custom solutions when needed.
• Build and maintain WooCommerce stores where required.
• Optimize sites for speed, Core Web Vitals, responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility, and apply WordPress security best practices.
• Handle migrations, staging-to-live deployments, backups and basic hosting/DNS tasks, and debug theme, plugin and performance issues.
• Use Git for version control and coordinate with designers, project managers and the SEO team.

Required profile

• 3-5 years of hands-on WordPress development experience, ideally in an agency or multi-site environment.
• Native Arabic (read and write) and strong English for team communication.
• Ability to build and QA Arabic/RTL and bilingual websites.
• Reliable remote worker, self-managing, communicative and able to meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Front-end: HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, JavaScript (and jQuery), responsive design.
• Back-end: PHP, MySQL, WordPress theme and plugin APIs, hooks and filters.
• ACF, custom post types and custom fields; WooCommerce.
• Familiarity with Elementor and/or Gutenberg blocks.
• Git and a collaborative development workflow.
• Nice to have: WPML or Polylang, on-page SEO, headless WordPress or REST API work, Node/React or Laravel, CI/CD, and a portfolio of live WordPress and Arabic/RTL sites.
