App Community Manager

About the role

GymNation wants to be a community-led gym operator, and this App Community Manager builds the community inside the GymNation app so that members stay longer. It is not a social media or events role: social media is handled by a separate Social Media Manager and events by Events Managers in the UAE and KSA. The role works closely with those teams and the Product and Tech team, influencing them to get things done.

Key responsibilities

• Launch and grow the app's community features: feed and stories, groups and events, training partners, leaderboards, streaks, messaging and share-your-results cards.
• Act as the member's voice to Product and Tech: write briefs, set priorities, test releases and drive adoption.
• Add an app layer to every event (group, sign-ups, challenge, leaderboard, results cards, follow-up) in partnership with the Events Managers.
• Grow member-led communities by recruiting and supporting group leaders, ambassadors and coaches.
• Set up community safety: guidelines, AI moderation rules, escalation and privacy-first defaults.
• Run the buddy referral programme and the community section of the annual member survey.
• Share community stories with the Social Media Manager and set up partner challenges with brands such as Nike, WHOOP, Oura and Red Bull.

Required profile

• Experience building and growing an online community inside a product (app, platform or membership), not just on social channels.
• Hands-on work with product and engineering teams: briefs, feature feedback, launches and adoption.
• Links digital community to real-world activity and is visible at events and credible with gym-goers.
• Nice to have: Arabic, GCC experience, and a background in run clubs, HYROX or a fitness app.

How success is measured

• Member retention and churn in the app community versus non-community members.
• Percentage of members in an app group, monthly active community users and challenge participation.
• Event attendees joining the app community and app members attending events.
• Buddy programme referrals and community scores in the annual survey.

Salary: 15-20k AED per month.
