Area Engineer – Oil & Gas

About the role

Our client, a reputable Oil & Gas organization in Abu Dhabi, is seeking an experienced Area Engineer to coordinate engineering activities across a plant or project area. The role involves monitoring field engineering, ensuring compliance with standards, and interfacing with multiple disciplines to drive successful project execution.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate engineering activities within the assigned plant, project, or operational area.
• Monitor field engineering activities and resolve technical issues affecting execution or operations.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, method statements and other technical documentation.
• Liaise with construction, operations, maintenance, HSE, QA/QC and project engineering teams.
• Ensure engineering work complies with approved specifications, Oil & Gas standards and HSE requirements.
• Monitor contractors and subcontractors to meet quality and schedule targets.
• Identify technical risks, constraints and interface issues and coordinate corrective actions.
• Prepare progress updates and communicate technical issues to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities in an Oil & Gas environment.
• Strong understanding of engineering practices, construction, operations and HSE/QC requirements.
• Experience managing interfaces between engineering, construction and operations teams.
• Capability to assess and troubleshoot field engineering problems.
• Familiarity with contractor and subcontractor management on large‑scale EPC projects.
