Carpenter

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Carpenter to join the Engineering team at Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, a five‑star beachfront hotel in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will carry out carpentry, joinery, furniture repair and general maintenance across guest rooms, public areas and back‑of‑house facilities, ensuring a safe and luxurious environment for guests and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all carpentry‑related items throughout the hotel.
• Repair, install and maintain wooden doors, frames, windows, cabinets, wardrobes, shelving, furniture and fixtures.
• Carry out furniture restoration, minor upholstery repairs and decorative finish work.
• Install, repair and replace locks, hinges, door closers, handles and other hardware.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, work orders and maintenance schedules.
• Maintain tools, equipment and workshop in a clean and safe condition.
• Monitor material usage and report stock requirements to the Engineering Supervisor.
• Coordinate with other engineering team members during renovation projects and respond promptly to guest maintenance requests.

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a carpenter, preferably in a luxury hotel or hospitality environment.
• Good knowledge of woodworking techniques, building maintenance and carpentry tools.
• Ability to read technical drawings and operate power and hand tools safely.
• Basic knowledge of painting, polishing and finishing techniques.
