Chair of Department – Consultant Obstetrics & Gynecology

About the role

The Chair of Department (Obstetrics & Gynecology) provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for OBGYN services across SEHA clinics, ensuring high‑quality, patient‑centered care and alignment with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation of departmental and organizational strategic plans.
• Advise the Chief Medical Officer on clinical and professional matters.
• Represent the department in corporate and management meetings.
• Review departmental reports, recommend improvements, and oversee implementation.
• Support performance management, peer review, and productivity processes.
• Contribute to workforce planning, recruitment, and appointment of division chiefs.
• Maintain clear communication with medical staff and hold regular division meetings.
• Oversee budget planning and financial management for the department.
• Respond to patient, relative, and staff enquiries, complaints, and investigations.
• Collect and use patient satisfaction data for strategic planning.
• Delegate duties to division staff and assume additional administrative responsibilities as needed.

Required profile

• Qualified Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
• Proven experience in senior clinical leadership and departmental management.
• Ability to provide strategic advice to senior executives.
• Strong understanding of DOH, SEHA, and international healthcare standards.
