Charge Nurse – Critical Care Clinical Support

About the role

The Charge Nurse leads the daily operations of the Critical Care unit at SSMC, ensuring smooth patient flow and high‑quality care. Reporting to the Nurse Manager, the role combines clinical expertise with administrative coordination to support a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee patient admissions, assignments, and discharge planning to maintain optimal unit capacity.
• Delegate tasks and supervise support staff according to training level and patient acuity.
• Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, coaching and guidance throughout each shift.
• Manage utilization of human resources, consumables and equipment efficiently.
• Administer medications and collaborate with pharmacy to meet unit medication needs.
• Participate in emergency response, patient care rounds and clinical handovers.
• Facilitate communication between patients, families and the interdisciplinary team.
• Ensure compliance with ethical standards, organizational policies and the SSMC mission.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current licensure in the UAE.
• Demonstrated competence in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
• Ability to work with a diverse, multidisciplinary workforce.
• Strong organizational skills and capacity to manage a high‑acuity environment.
