Chemical Application Engineer

About the role

The Chemical Application Engineer plans, executes and supervises chemical cleaning, flushing, passivation and mechanical cleaning activities for a wide range of industrial and commercial systems. The role ensures safe, compliant and effective commissioning of piping networks, HVAC, chilled water, district cooling, data centre and power generation facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute project plans for chemical cleaning, flushing and passivation projects.
• Review project specifications, P&IDs, method statements and flushing procedures.
• Conduct site surveys, assess system readiness and supervise flushing operations for chilled water, condenser water, district cooling, closed‑loop, HVAC and industrial process piping.
• Monitor system parameters such as flow rate, pressure, velocity, pH, conductivity, turbidity and chemical concentrations.
• Design flushing methodologies, select chemicals, equipment, filtration systems and dosing requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, flushing certificates and completion documentation.
• Operate and maintain flushing pumps, temporary filtration units, dosing systems, chemical circulation skids and water‑treatment equipment.
• Ensure HSE compliance, conduct JSA and risk assessments, lead toolbox talks and enforce PPE and permit‑to‑work procedures.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors and commissioning teams, attend project meetings and support planning and scheduling.
