Chief Accountant

About the role

SORP Group is seeking a Chief Accountant to ensure accurate, timely, and consistent accounting and tax reporting across UAE and international jurisdictions. You will lead the accounting team, oversee period closings, prepare financial reports, and act as the main liaison with auditors and tax authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee accurate accounting in systems such as Zoho Books and QuickBooks.
• Manage tax accounting and filings, including UAE VAT and corporate tax.
• Ensure timely and accurate period closing on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Lead and develop the accounting team.
• Prepare for audits and coordinate with external auditors.
• Review financial reports before submission to authorities.
• Develop methodology and standardize accounting processes across entities.

Required profile

• 5‑7 years of experience in accounting/tax, with 2‑3 years in a managerial role.
• Mandatory experience with UAE accounting regulations (VAT, corporate tax, local compliance).
• Understanding of international, multi‑entity accounting.
• Proven experience managing a team or working with outsourced accounting providers.
• Hands‑on experience with period closing and audit preparation.
• Fluent English (C1+) and Russian.
• Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, or DipIFR are a plus.
