About the role

The Commis works in the Wet Deck Kitchen of a W Hotel, preparing and cooking food to exacting quality and presentation standards while maintaining a safe, clean work environment.

Key responsibilities

Prepare ingredients, portion, chop, store, wash and peel fruits and vegetables.
Measure, weigh and mix ingredients; prepare cold foods and cook according to recipes and quality standards.
Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers; test foods for doneness and monitor quality.
Set up and break down work stations, serve food in proper portions, and maintain a clean, disinfected kitchen area.
Check appliance and food temperatures, follow safety policies and report any hazards.

Required profile

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
At least one year of related kitchen experience.
No supervisory experience required.

Required skills

Food preparation and portioning.
Operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, microwaves and fryers.
Food safety, sanitation and temperature control.
