Consultant – Infectious Disease (Abu Dhabi)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Consultant in Infectious Diseases to join a leading healthcare institution in Abu Dhabi. The role involves providing expert clinical care for adult patients with complex infectious diseases, contributing to infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship, and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, treat, and manage a broad spectrum of infectious diseases including bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections.
• Manage complex cases such as sepsis, HIV, tuberculosis, endocarditis, osteomyelitis, and hospital‑acquired infections.
• Lead and support antimicrobial stewardship programs to optimize antibiotic use.
• Collaborate with ICU, internal medicine, surgery, and microbiology teams for integrated patient care.
• Provide consultation services for inpatient and outpatient infectious disease cases.
• Participate in infection prevention and control initiatives and outbreak management.
• Ensure compliance with DOH Abu Dhabi regulations, hospital protocols, and international clinical guidelines.
• Contribute to teaching, training, audits, research, and continuous quality improvement programs.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi.
• Board Certification / Fellowship in Infectious Diseases (American Board, UK CCT, Canadian Board, or equivalent).
• Valid DOH Consultant License or Eligibility Letter in Infectious Diseases.
• Minimum 5–7 years of post‑specialist experience in a tertiary care or academic hospital.
• Strong experience in managing complex infectious disease cases and antimicrobial stewardship.
• Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Preferred: experience in outbreak management, hospital infection control programs, ICU infectious disease consultation, research publications, and ability to work in a multicultural, high‑acuity environment.
