Consultant – Infectious Diseases (Abu Dhabi)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Consultant in Infectious Diseases to join a leading healthcare institution in Abu Dhabi. The role involves delivering expert clinical care to adult patients with complex infections, supporting antimicrobial stewardship, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure evidence‑based treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, treat and manage a wide range of bacterial, viral, fungal and parasitic infections, including sepsis, HIV, tuberculosis, endocarditis, osteomyelitis and hospital‑acquired infections.
• Lead and support antimicrobial stewardship programmes to optimise antibiotic use.
• Provide inpatient and outpatient consultation services and work closely with ICU, internal medicine, surgery and microbiology teams.
• Participate in infection prevention and control initiatives, outbreak management and compliance with DOH Abu Dhabi regulations.
• Contribute to teaching, training, audits, research and continuous quality‑improvement activities.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognised by DOH Abu Dhabi.
• Board certification or fellowship in Infectious Diseases (American Board, UK CCT, Canadian Board or equivalent).
• Valid DOH Consultant licence or eligibility letter in Infectious Diseases.
• Minimum 5–7 years of post‑specialist experience in a tertiary or academic hospital.
• Strong clinical judgement, communication and teamwork abilities.
