Consultant Neurologist – Movement Disorders & DBS

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Consultant Neurologist with a focus on movement disorders and deep brain stimulation to join our multidisciplinary neuroscience team in Abu Dhabi. The role involves delivering comprehensive diagnostic, therapeutic and long‑term management for patients with Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, dystonia, Huntington’s disease and other complex neurological conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage a wide spectrum of movement disorders following current clinical guidelines.
• Assess patients for advanced therapies such as deep brain stimulation, infusion therapies and other device‑assisted interventions.
• Conduct pre‑operative evaluations and perform post‑operative programming and optimisation of DBS systems.
• Develop individualized treatment plans that combine pharmacological, surgical and rehabilitative approaches.
• Interpret neuroimaging and electrophysiological studies and perform detailed neurological examinations.
• Participate in multidisciplinary movement‑disorder and DBS clinics and collaborate with functional neurosurgeons.
• Provide long‑term follow‑up care, including DBS troubleshooting, medication optimisation and patient education.
• Mentor junior physicians, residents and allied health professionals and contribute to clinical pathway development.

Required profile

• Board‑certified neurologist with at least 8 years of post‑qualification experience.
• Extensive experience in managing movement disorders and programming DBS devices.
• Proven ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and to supervise trainees.
• Strong communication skills for patient and family education.
