Consultant Pediatric Emergency Medicine

About the role

The Consultant Pediatric Emergency Medicine will join SEHA’s emergency department in Abu Dhabi, providing specialist care to children presenting with acute illnesses and injuries. This senior clinical position combines direct patient management with leadership responsibilities across the division.

Key responsibilities

• Support and adhere to hospital policies, departmental initiatives and performance management processes.
• Ensure continuous medical coverage within the division and attend invited divisional meetings.
• Supervise junior medical staff, lead ward rounds, and oversee inpatient and outpatient care.
• Diagnose and treat pediatric emergency cases according to best‑practice standards.
• Document clinical information accurately and review investigation results to adjust treatment plans.
• Coordinate with other specialties and support services for multidisciplinary patient care.
• Participate in out‑of‑hours on‑call rotation, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Communicate clinical information to patients and families in a timely, consent‑based manner.

Required profile

• Medical degree with full registration to practice in the UAE.
• Board certification or equivalent qualification in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
• Extensive experience in a senior emergency medicine role, preferably within a tertiary hospital.
• Proven ability to supervise and mentor junior clinicians.
• Strong commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and collaborative teamwork.
