Consultant Physician Forensic Psychiatry

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Consultant Physician specialized in Forensic Psychiatry to deliver comprehensive psychiatric care to patients with injuries, illnesses, and complex mental health needs. The role involves clinical assessment, treatment planning, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Examine patients, take detailed medical histories, and address their concerns.
• Diagnose and treat injuries, illnesses, and psychiatric disorders.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, communicating results to patients.
• Develop and prescribe individualized treatment plans, including psychopharmacology.
• Provide counseling on lifestyle, preventive health, and diet.
• Maintain accurate patient records and update charts with current findings.
• Explain medical procedures and treatment options to patients and families.
• Consult with other physicians, refer to specialists, and work closely with nurses and healthcare staff.
• Ensure compliance with medical laws and regulations such as HIPAA.

Required profile

• Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized university.
• Residency in Psychiatry and Fellowship/Sub‑specialty training in Forensic Psychiatry.
• Board certification in Psychiatry (e.g., MRCPsych, ABPN, CCT UK or equivalent).
• Valid Department of Health license for Abu Dhabi or eligibility to obtain one.
• 3–5 years of post‑specialization experience in a similar role.
• Proven expertise in trauma‑informed care, developmental psychiatry, and psychopharmacology.
• Experience in culturally diverse environments is desirable.
• Fluent English; Arabic proficiency is a plus.
