Consultant Physician – Palliative Care

About the role

The Consultant Physician in Palliative Care leads the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based care for patients requiring end‑of‑life support. The role combines clinical excellence with leadership, overseeing junior staff and ensuring optimal patient outcomes across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, manage and treat patients according to best‑practice standards for palliative care.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess patients regularly, and document clinical information promptly.
• Supervise junior medical staff, ensuring safe and effective care delivery.
• Participate in multi‑disciplinary meetings to develop holistic care plans.
• Support hospital initiatives, policies, and performance‑management processes, including peer review.
• Assist the Division Chief with scheduling, recruitment, and ensuring continuous medical coverage.
• Provide on‑call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Communicate treatment plans and updates to patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.

Required profile

• Board‑certified physician with extensive experience in palliative care.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to mentor junior staff.
• Strong commitment to clinical excellence and patient‑centered care.
• Willingness to participate in administrative and performance‑management activities.
